Details: For romantics only. Lapradelle is a small village nestling in the valley of the river Boulzane within the Pyrenean foothills. Above the commune rises the Cathar castle of Puilaurens. A small tourist train stops at Lapradelle on its way from Axat to the east and back again.
Rue du Cabanot is a quiet street, well away from the main road. It shortly turns into a footpath down the valley towards Caudies. It is a short walk to the shops, the restaurant and bar, bakers, general store etc.
The house is on 3 floors, the top floor comprising the large living-room and roof-terrace. Ground floor: 1 single bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower, basin and w.c. Beyond the small kitchenette with fridge and small stove, the back door leads out on to the patio with barbecue, beyond which is the garden, grassed and safe for children. First floor: 1 twin bedroom, 1 double bedroom with cot. Telephone. 1 bathroom with bath/shower, basin, w.c. Also a separate w.c. on this floor. The spacious kitchen/dining-room has a pantry off, with washing-machine, dish-washer, microwave, 4-ring electric cooker, second fridge, freezer. Porte-fenetres lead out on to the breakfasting balcony with its view to the south over the garden, the village, and the surrounding hills. Small barbecue. The top floor: one very large living-room with beamed ceiling; satellite TV, DVD player with 100 films, comfortable seating, telephone, many books and cassettes. Porte-fenetres lead out on to the large, south-facing roof terrace with its sublime view over the valley towards the castle of Puilaurens and the ring of mountains beyond.
This house is suited to first or second honeymooners; to lovers of the countryside, of France profonde, of walking strenuous or otherwise, of fauna and flora, of bird-watching, of history, of 'castle-bagging'. All linen and towels are provided free of charge except for the beach and sun-bathing. The house is all electric, with no gas cylinders. It is an easy and beautiful 36-mile drive to the Mediterranean. Ski slopes begin at Mijanes about 17 miles away. Country walks begin at your doorstep.
