Welcome to Vacances Vertes les Belles. Nestled in the charming country village of St Germain les Belles, you will this find the perfect base for your dream holiday. We offer comfortable accommodation for up to 14 people within the 6 bedrooms.
This attractive village house has recently been restored to incorporate 6 double or family-sized bedrooms; all are presented in fresh, neutral colours with original stunning oak flooring. 5 of the bedrooms have their own private bathrooms. In addition, every room in the house has central-heating, so you can enjoy the wealth of activities that the region has to offer in winter.
The homely kitchen is fully-equipped to meet all your culinary needs, whether you choose to prepare your own meals or would rather we provide them for you. We like to encourage a relaxed, informal environment - perfect for convivial conversation around the large kitchen table.
You will find a large gas oven and hob - useful for groups who wish to cook and eat their food together. There is also all of the other utensils / facilities that you would expect to find in a modern kitchen - dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, ample amounts of crockery, pots and pans...
Guests are welcome to use the washing machine and iron / ironing board.
Put your feet up in the cosy lounge... Adjoining the kitchen is the comfortable lounge, where guests can look out onto the peaceful Limousin countryside. Here you can relax in front of the television (SKY availability), or chat to new friends in comfort. There is also a log fire - great for reading a book in front of on a chilly winters' evening.
We are happy to provide books for the use of our guests. Including fiction and stories for children, you will also find useful wildlife reference books. There are also games for the kids (or grown-ups!).
There is wheelchair access to the garden / terrace area via the French windows.
Step outside onto the terrace and enjoy the garden... Imagine yourself relaxing on the terrace on a warm summer's evening, drinking the local wine and gazing at the lovely countryside beyond the house... or waking up with the early morning light and doing a spot of bird watching from your own back garden... or playing with your children on the safe lawn area...
We consider ourselves a 'Child-friendly Holiday Destination' - being a young family ourselves, we understand some of the pressures (and pleasures!) of taking the little ones on holiday. We can provide some of those 'bulky' items that are difficult to pack for a holiday (travel cots, high-chairs..) - just let us know what you need when booking and will do our upmost to take care of your needs.
Please note that we only use environmentally-friendly cleaning products. Guests can also make use of the on-site composting facilities and village recycling points.
All visitors are informed that the entire house is non-smoking.

The house is set in the heart of the peaceful Limousin village of St Germain Les Belles and within walking distance you can discover many of the services that the village has to offer, including local shops selling fine Limousin produce, restaurants, historic buildings and the swimming lake. Turn away from the village on foot and within a few minutes you will find safe country lanes and wild hedge-rows, teeming with birds and other wildlife - perfect for either a safe bike ride with your kids or for a relaxing stroll.
We welcome disabled guests - the large ground-floor bedroom and private bathroom is fully accessible to wheelchairs. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions about how we can make your stay a pleasant one.
This unspoilt region of France is particularly ideal for groups of bird-watchers, artists, canoeists, walkers, cyclists, families... in fact anyone who loves being outdoors and surrounded by nature. The Limousin has been dubbed the 'French Lake District' but it has a beauty and charm all of its own. It is incredibly rural and peaceful with magical scenery. There are few busy roads, a huge network of meandering country walks, rolling hills, forests, lakes..... you will certainly be able to experience a slower pace of life and relax into your holiday. Many of our surrounding villages have an 'etang' or swimming lake - venture further afield and you can find some spectacular larger lakes; Lake Vassiviere (45 minutes from St Germain les Belles) for example, is Europe's largest man-made lake and is a popular tourist destination for many Europeans. The lake at St. Germain les Belles itself, has a sandy beach and play area - it is a beautiful and safe place to swim in the summer heat or to take a walk around in winter to admire the stunning scenery while you carry out a spot of bird watching.
St Germain les Belles is a perfect example of a fine Limousin village - peaceful, attractive and just seconds away from beautiful rolling countryside. It boasts many services, including the lake, 2 restaurants/bars and local shops selling fine Limousin produce.
We are also only 30 minutes away from the attractive city of Limoges - here you can discover the large number of Porcelain factory outlets, independent boutiques, Aquarium, restaurants, nightlife... Or simply wander around the historic Old Quarter.
ORgANIC VEGETABLE GARDENING COURSE:
Course Dates: May 9th-15th; Jun 27th - Aug 3rd ; Sep 26th - Oct 2nd. This five day (one 'free day') practical course is perfect for anyone who would
like to learn how to grow their own vegetables organically regardless of experience. Where possible, all food provided on the course is organic or locally grown. Where it's not possible, some ingredients are at least locally sourced / bought.
