Details: Floure is a small village nestling under the northern ridge of the Corbieres hills. It boasts a magnificent chateau restaurant, ideal for that special evening out.
La Florette and Chez Magali are situated between the village and the river Aude. They are the two end sections of a long building on two floors. The middle section we keep for ourselves, but we are not there when visitors are present. Together the two houses are available for letting as a single unit - i.e. for a group of 16 + 2 cots. They are no more than 15 yards apart. Both houses are wholly self-sufficient. They open on to the south-facing front terrace, and both have access to the front lawn, the swimming-pool and the field beyond. Both have their own back gardens and parking areas.

La Florette, the larger house, accommodates 10 people + cot in five bedrooms. It is approached along a lane which leads into your driveway with ample parking. The river Aude is about 100 yards away, but your gates prevent children wandering towards it on their own. La Florette faces south towards Mount Alaric.
The ground floor: the large sitting room with beamed ceilings, comfortable seating, satellite TV, DVD player with 100 films, many cassettes and books, telephone. The spacious dining-room, again with beamed ceiling. The kitchen with two fridges, dish-washer, microwave, 4-ring electric cooker etc. The kitchen's back door leads out on to the back garden with its barbecue, dining-table and whirligig. On the ground floor there is also a large double bedroom, and a washroom with w.c.
First floor: 3 twin bedrooms. 1 double bedroom with cot and en suite shower & basin. Bathroom with bath and separate shower, bidet and wash-basin. Separate w.c. Washroom with basin, shower and w.c. One of three washing-machines available on the premises. La Florette has oil-fired central heating. A buggy is provided for small children.
From the dining-room, porte-fenetres lead out on to the wide, south-facing terrace with barbecue, dining-table and outside seating. Beyond the terrace is the lawn surrounded by mature trees. It has a swing for children under supervision. A gate leads into the patio around the swimming-pool, 5x11ms, not overlooked and surrounded by plants and shrubs. The patio is securely fenced in line with current regulations. At one corner of the pool there is a hexagonal paddling-pool from which the water cascades into the pool itself. Beyond the pool there is a field for ball games.

Chez Magali is approached along a lane from which you enter your private parking area. The river Aude is about 100 yards away, but your gates prevent children wandering towards it on their own. To the south, Chez Magali looks over the trees towards Mount Alaric.
The ground floor: A patio leads through the porchway into the very large living-room, with windows to the south and west. Beautiful beamed ceiling. Comfortable seating, satellite TV, DVD with 100 films, many books and cassettes. Telephone. A spacious dining area with chandelier-type overhead lighting. The ample kitchen area is well fitted with cupboard and worktop space. 4-ring electric cooker, large fridge, microwave, double sink, dishwasher, washing-machine. There is a second washing-machine available on the premises. To the side of the porchway, there is a w.c. and wash-basin.
The first floor: One double bedroom, south-facing, with a four-poster bed and cot, telephone and en suite room with shower and wash-basin. Again south-facing, one twin bedroom. To the rear, the second twin bedroom which has a balcony looking towards the river Aude. All bedrooms are well fitted with wardrobes, chests of drawers etc. Bathroom with bath and wash-basin. Separate w.c. (one of two in this house).
The porch leads out onto the patio, either side of which is a Mediterranean-style garden with a variety of shrubs and bushes. Children may use the adjacent grassed garden to play in. The patio has outside seating and table, with barbecue and exterior lighting. It leads down to your parking area. The boiler-room contains a second washing-machine. Chez Magali is heated by electric heaters.
From the other side of the living-room, a door leads out on to the front terrace, beyond which is the lawn, the swimming-pool and the field, all of which are described above under 'La Florette'.

The nearest autoroute exit is at Trθbes, about 4 miles away, from which it is a quick 35-mile drive to Narbonne and the beaches at Gruissan and Narbonne Plage.
Floure is situated in the Minervois, an area well known for its excellent wine. To the south lie the Corbieres, a scarcely populated range of hills well worthy of exploration. To the north, rise the Montagne Noire and the National Park, the last bastion of the Massif Central. It is possible to take pleasure trips on the Canal du Midi. Several historic cathedral cities are within easy reach, including Montpellier, Beziers, Castres, Albi, Narbonne, Perpignan, Toulouse and St. Pons de Thomieres.
La Florette is about 8 miles from Carcassonne, one of the two or three most frequently visited places in France outside Paris. The largest medieval fortified city in Europe, it stands magnificent on its hill 150 metres above the river Aude. Restored in the 19th. century, it is a dream of the perfect medieval city with its 3 kilometres of ramparts, 35 defensive towers, its moat, Viscount's castle and basilica. There are excellent restaurants in the old city. The river Aude rises in the Cerdagne beyond Mont-Louis and flows towards Carcassonne through dramatic gorges past Limoux, home of the famous sparkling Blanquette wine. After Carcassonne, its course turns to the east towards the sea.

Rates / Pricing Information: A supplement of £35 is payable for single-week bookings. Linen and towels are provided except towels for the beach or sunbathing. Coverage of heating costs off-season is subject to negotiation.
