Details: Fleur de Lin is one of three luxurious cottages at "Le Clos des Sandboys". Only 1 hour from Calais in the “7 Vallées” region, noted for pretty wooded valleys and trout streams, "Fleur de Lin" provides superior comfort in a cottage newly converted from the stables of this former farm. A thoroughly modern interior offers one charming twin bedroom and one very large double room (with an extra single bed), a bathroom and separate WC.
The cottage is newly furnished and decorated in a light modern style with some interesting modern art originals and prints. The ground floor living area is an open-plan space, incorporating kitchen, dining area and comfortable salon with modern furniture and flexible accent lighting. Also on the ground floor are a bathroom with bath and shower, and a separate WC.
The comfortable bedrooms on the first floor are provided with plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes, and particularly well-planned lighting for reading, make-up, etc.
Efficient programmed central heating, insulation to top modern standards, UK satellite TV, CD/cassette player, and plenty of books and games (including French Monopoly) contribute to guests' total comfort and relaxation.
The well-equipped kitchen incorporates oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, electric coffee maker and plenty of storage into a compact and well-lit space.
Other facilities include a laundry, a terrace, secluded garden, parking, and a safe play area outdoors.
Shopping
Local shopping facilities include the market towns of Fruges (3mins) and Hesdin (10 mins). For more serious shoppers St. Omer with its Auchan and Carrefour hypermarchés, stylish boutiques, art and furniture galleries is only 25 minutes drive. Antique lovers will find a treasure trove in Montreuil (25 mins) including a weekly auction sale, while fashion junkies should make a bee-line for Le Touquet (45 mins) with its branches of Paris boutiques, smart cocktail bars and casinos.
You can get to Paris or Brussels in about 2 hours by car and train
Sightseeing
This part of France is famous for its historic battlefields. The 100 Years War of the Middle Ages, and the two World Wars of the 20th century have left many traces. Museums and monuments abound and the ceremonies at Ypres and on the Somme on and around November 11th are particularly moving.
The battlefield of Agincourt is only 3 minutes from here and there is a good museum.
Dozens of historic towns and many superb chateaux are to be found within an hour's drive from here.
Sports and Activities
Bicycle hire, horse riding, tennis, swimming, windsurfing, sand yachting and fishing all available at a number of centres within 40 minutes drive. Walkers and cyclists are well catered for with a wide variety of signposted itineraries. Kite flying is a favourite activity on the Cote d'Opale beaches and you can take a country walk with a donkey for company, visiting charming villages and buying bread cooked in a wood fired oven and local cheeses at stops on the way.
Golf
Keen golfers will appreciate the choice of a dozen or more top quality courses within an hour's easy drive.
Beaches
For sun worshippers and families the fabulous beaches and dunes of the Cote d'Opale are not to be missed.
