Details: In river valley village encompassed by three chateaux midway La Rochelle and Poitiers.
Les Hirondelles completed in June 2005 an 18th century detached barn conversion that we have sympathetically restored over 12 months. We offer
you fully modernised accommodation but retaining charm and character. Two large bedrooms to suit 4 persons with ensuite facilities. Situated near the
orchard where you can take your pick of figs, apples, pears, plums and nectarines.
Oak beams and exposed stone throughout. A fully equipped kitchen with fridge, gas cooker, microwave, washing machine. Parquet flooring to all rooms. Dining area with original manger. Dining table and chairs. Radio/cassette and c.d. player. Sofa and chairs in lounge. Fireplace with wood burning stove and radiators to rooms for the cooler months. Colour television (satellite) with d.v.d. player. A selection of books, films and c.d's are provided
The beautiflul ash staircase leads to a hallway with two bedrooms. Exposed stone and original old beams. You can almost pick figs from the bedrooms.
The double bedroom with ceiling fan has wrought iron bed, wardrobe and drawer unit, ensuite facilities include hand basin, w.c. and shower system with massage jets.
The twin room with two wrought iron single beds can be arranged as a double. Recessed area for hanging clothes and large chest of drawers.
Bathroom with hand basin, w.c. bath and shower attachment.
Private garden where you will find garden furniture to eat out 'al fresco' plus sun loungers Gaz barbeque is also provided. You can almost guarantee eating outside for the majority of your holiday as this region averages over 2500 hours of sunshine per year!
Barbeque with wine included on day of arrival June to September.
In a separate utility room a tumble dryer can be used for a small charge. Hairdryer, iron and iron board. Linen and towels are provided.
One acre of mature gardens where you can depending on the season take your pick of figs, damsons, nectarines, grapes, apples, pears, walnuts and more.
The 7.5 x 3.5 metre above ground pool is situated within a tiled and walled area. Sun loungers are available for our guests. Trees giving welcome
dappled shade from the midday sun! Bougainvillea, oleander, lavender, lilac and mock orange are amongst the many shrubs that border the gardens.
In a large converted barn we have a games room, which offers you, a pool table, darts, table tennis, table top football and a small snooker table.
Boules, croquet and badminton for outdoor use. We also have a selection of bicycles where you can explore the villages with the help of the many cycle ride details that we have left in the gites or
why not discover some of your own?
We live in an area where the roads are quiet so cycling and walking are a delight. You should be able to spot Hoopoes, Golden Orioles, Woodpeckers, Buzzards and Herons. In the summer evenings look out for the glowworms, owls and red squirrels.
..and the many villages you can explore for yourself. Driving on quiet roads, cycling along side the fields of sunflowers and sweetcorn where the only disturbance is the wildlife. Stop for a 'plat de jour and just enjoy..
