Full Description of Holiday Rental Property:
Fancy a fantastic holiday in the warm, inviting climate of the French Mediterranean. Come and experience life the French way in our rustic bergerie and discover how easy it is to fall in love with the Provence.
The accommodation is situated on two floors.
On the ground floor it contains:
- spacious living room with TV (access to all French channels), CD, video and spare single bed;
- dining area with generously sized table;
- master bedroom with large double bed;
- hallway;
- fully equipped kitchen with bottled (propane) gas, and annexe with additional storage space and worktop;
- bathroom with WC, basin, bath and shower.
Bedroom 2 is situated on the upper floor. It contains two single beds and has its own upstairs toilet and basin.
The bergerie enjoys water from its own private spring, which supplies all tap water throughout the house for bathrooms, laundry and dishes. For cooking and drinking bottled water is strongly recommended.
Because of allergy of the owners we will ask you please not to smoke inside the house.
Situated on a hillock between Besse sur Issole and Carnoules, the bergerie is set in an acre (5000 m²) of its own private land. Half of this is woodland, the other half consists of two terraces, with the bergerie, originally a shelter for shepherd and sheep, on the upper terrace and the swimming pool, garden and small orchard on the lower. From the upper terrace you can enjoy the commanding views over the beautiful green valley, whilst keeping an eye on the children in the safely enclosed swimming pool.
The gardens are stocked with oleanders, lavender bushes, vines, figs, cherry-, apricot- and olive trees, a kaki tree, a medlar, 'strawberry' trees, mimosa, an umbrella pine (with edible pine kernels), various species of wild orchids and many other Mediterranean plants and herbs. Green common frogs shelter underneath their turtle shell roof, large blue-green lizards may be seen basking in the sun, and you may even spot a tortoise or two. Squirrels play in the 200-year old oak that keeps the veranda nice and cool, and many species of butterfly show off their fabulous colours. There's always some company here….
Beyond the boundary of the bergerie, wild boar and their young roam the forests in Spring. About 50m further along, a little tourist train can be seen passing during the summer months.
