Full Description of Holiday Rental Property: La Fuente is a spacious, authentic Moorish holiday apartment located in stunning Vejer de la Frontera. Miles of unspoilt beach, historic cities and a host of activities can be enjoyed under year round sunshine. La Fuente is ideally situated within the conservation quarter of the old town and within a short walk of the picturesque Plaza Espana. This is the focal point of the town and provides a number of excellent al fresco restaurants and cafes.
Breathtaking views and excellent food combine with the wealth of history that gave Vejer its status as a Spanish National Monument.
The apartment has been recently modernised with newly tiled floors, kitchen and bathroom, yet retaining the traditional Moorish feel for which Vejer is renowned. Rooms are beautifully cool in the heat of the summer; the master bedroom has a ceiling fan for added comfort. The split-level apartment has stunning views from each of the bedrooms. This extends over the pretty village and to the lovely countryside in the valley below.
Both bedrooms are spacious, well appointed and have ample storage. The second family room features three single beds. The settee in the living room converts to a further two single beds if required. The lounge is comfortable, authentically decorated and well equipped with a brand new television, DVD player and hi-fi. The modern kitchen comprises built in base units and matching wall cabinets, and is equipped with an electric hob, microwave/grill, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, washing machine and ironing facilities. The bathroom includes a white four piece roca suite with a shower attachment over the bath. Rental rates are all inclusive of electricity, many household necessities, final cleaning, and weekly changes of bed linen and towels. Guests are welcome to borrow movie DVDs and books from the small library collection. A welcome hamper can be provided upon arrival if desired.
Vejer is within a short drive of some of the best beaches on the Costa de la Luz. Caños de Mecca and Zahora are secluded bays with relaxing beachfront bars and restaurants. El Palmar is one of the region's best surfing beaches. Cape Trafalgar is a similar distance - site of the famous lighthouse and victory of Lord Nelson over the French fleet. The coastline of Costa de la Luz covers miles and miles of uninterrupted deep, sandy beaches backed by sand dunes and pine trees running from Tarifa in the south to the Portuguese Algarve.
The Costa de la Luz is a long stretch of spectacular beaches, which enjoy 300 days of sunshine a year. The Daily Telegraph voted this stretch one of Europe's ten best beaches (11th June 2005).
Seville, Jerez and Cadiz are all within easy reach, and offer culture in abundance, along with the world's finest sherry and tapas. Traditional flamenco, and bull-fighting are further attractions.
The surrounding area has excellent watersports (surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and scuba diving) and the region is renowned as a cycling and walking destination. Excellent fishing can be enjoyed, both freshwater and sea.
The are excellent golf courses nearby. Montenmedio, only 10 minutes by car, is 'superb' and rated a 'first-class course' (www.worldgolf.com).
Horse-riding is also very popular, with the Jerez horse fair attracting equestrian-lovers the world over. We can help you arrange horse-riding along the beach at El Palmar, through a professional equestrian centre.
Also nearby is the town of Tarifa, which is heavily influenced by its Moorish past, but also includes the remains of a Roman settlement (Baelo Claudia). Tarifa is the southernmost point in Europe, and Morocco is a short ferry crossing away. This stretch of water where the Atlantic meets the Meditteranean is excellent for whale-watching, with regular tours leaving the harbour.
Come and find out why the Sunday Times called Vejer "a magical white hill village with huge Moorish influences... attracting some internationally famous people". This is the real Spain.
