The gîte is a cosy self contained property which used to be the old piggery and the smoke room.

The properties are within walking distance of open countryside, woods, lakes and the local village where there is a pub / restaurant / tobacconist, bakery.
There is a 10m by 4m swimming pool and over 5 Hectares of private land which is available to anyone staying at the farmhouse or the gîte. Also available table tennis, badminton, bicycles. A short distance up the road there is a model aircraft club. Fishing permits are available for local lakes and rivers. Go-carting track within 10 minutes drive. Porcelain factories and local museums in the surrounding villages.

Have you wondered what it would be like to fly?
Then you will be pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to gain a Private Pilots License. From Bellegarde International Airport in Limoges you can fly over the local hills, valleys, lakes and mountains. Each trip can be a different experience with breath taking views every time. You can fly over your house or just see the area from a different perspective.

Before your first flight, we will brief you with all the information required so you can enjoy the experience of flying a plane.
We begin the lessons in one of the Robin DR 400-140's. These are one of the easiest training aircraft to fly and they have great visibility. The quality, reliability and ease of flying the Robin has given it the reputation of 'the Porsche of the skies'.
What does it take to become a pilot?
To enjoy the freedom of the skies you will need to gain a JAR Private Pilots License (PPL). This is an internationally recognized license for flying any "class A single engined plane" with up to a maximum weight of 5700Kg.
There are 4 main requirements you need for the PPL.
45+ hours of flying experience
PPL 25 - Dual 10 Solo - Total 45 Hours.
Ground examinations (All in English)
Air Law
Meteorology
Navigation
Human Perfomance and limitations
Flight performance and planning
Aircraft technical
Radiotelephony
Radio telephony examination
Medical certificate (JAA approved examiner). This can be issued in the UK or in France and must be obtained before your first solo flight
Flying examinations
To get the license you need to have completed 25 hours of dual flying (with an instructor) and 10 hours of solo flying and a grand total of no less than 45 hours total flying. There are written and flying examinations, as you progress you will be required to speak on the radio, but don't worry English is the international language of aviation.

After your first flight we can help you build up your experience and confidence in the air until you are flying like a professional.
Limoges has all the advantages of being an International Airport but also has an unusually quiet airspace and very few restrictions on where you can fly. So you won't be continuously avoiding other planes or restricted airspace.
With a variety of planes for hire including the new state of the art Diamond DA40 TDI our instructor can fly with you until you feel comfortable flying over France.
Regular flying lessons available on request, and Limoges has one of the best climates for good flying conditions which means more days flying per year.
CAA (JAR) PPL - approved
When you visit La Chataigneraie you will meet the family of thoroughbred horses.
The horses have directly descended from "Lady Sunshine" who originated in England in the early 1970's. She was a tremendous performer over jumps and won numerous competions in very many different equestrian disciplines.
Several of her grandchildren are now "famous" in England as winners of show jumping and three day events at national and international level including Phoebus and Venerable.
You will find her grandchildren happily grazing on the fields of LA Chataigneraie and being trained ready to be sold for their future careers in the equestrian sport horse world.
In May 2005 we hope that we shall have two foals born both of which have Illustrious French fathers including an Olympic medal winner Yarlands Summer Song.
At present we are constructing a large horse barn and a menage for training purposes.
We shall also have ponies and riding horses available for riding lessons.
The countryside in the area has many wonderful rides in the forests where you may be lucky enough to see some of the numerous deer, wild boar and the abundance of birds of prey .

How to get here: From Limoges follow the N21 towards Aixe sur Vienne and Perigueux continue straight through Aixe and a small town of Sereilhac.Continue on the N21 for approximately 4 kilometres turn right on the D499 towards Gorre turn left after apporximately 4 kilometres towards La Villedieu and Massaloux you will come to a T junction the drice to the property is opposite you La Chataigneraie.
